About this tool
A long PDF is awkward when only a few pages matter. A contract with a signature page, a scanned book with chapters or an invoice bundle for several clients is easier to send, store and print when each part is its own file. Splitting does that without opening a desktop editor.
The tool uses qpdf to copy the pages you name into new documents without redrawing them, so text, links and images stay exactly as they were. In range mode every comma separated range becomes one file, so "1-3, 4, 5-" gives three PDFs. In fixed size mode a 10 page file cut every 2 pages gives five files of two pages each.
Up to 200 parts are created per run, and each upload can be up to 20 MB. Results come as a ZIP archive because browsers handle one download better than a dozen. If you only want to remove a few pages and keep the rest as one file, use the Delete PDF Pages tool instead. Password protected files need the Unlock PDF tool first.
Frequently asked questions
How do I write the page ranges?
Separate ranges with commas. Use 3 for one page, 2-5 for pages two to five and 7- for page seven to the end. Each range becomes its own PDF, so "1-2, 3-5, 6-" makes three files. Page numbers start at 1.
Can I split a PDF into single pages?
Yes. Choose the fixed size option and set the number of pages per file to 1. Every page becomes its own PDF and you download them together in one ZIP file. The limit is 200 files per run.
Why do I get a ZIP file?
A ZIP keeps all parts in one download and keeps their names in order, which is easier than saving many files one by one. When the result has six parts or fewer you also get a direct link for each part.
Will splitting change how the pages look?
No. The pages are copied as they are, so fonts, images and links are unchanged. Only the grouping into files is different. Bookmarks that point to pages in another part may stop working.
Is the file stored on your server?
No. It is written to a private temporary folder, split, and deleted when the request ends. We do not keep or read the content of your documents.
