Open Graph and X Card Checker
An Open Graph checker shows how a link will look when shared on social media. This free checker reads a page and lists every og: and twitter: tag, checks the essential tags are set, confirms the share image loads and reports its size, then previews the card Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and X will build.

About this tool
When a link is shared on WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Facebook or X, the platform builds the preview card from the page's Open Graph and X card tags. Without them it guesses, and the result is often the wrong image, a cookie notice as the description, or a bare link that nobody clicks.
The checker fetches the page's raw HTML, which is what the platforms' crawlers read, and lists every og: and twitter: tag. It checks the essentials (title, description, image, URL, type and card), confirms that og:url agrees with the canonical URL, and then fetches the share image itself: it must be an absolute address that loads as an image, and we report its dimensions. Large previews look best at 1200 by 630 pixels.
Platforms cache previews, so after you fix a tag, ask them to read the page again: Facebook's Sharing Debugger and LinkedIn's Post Inspector both have a button for that. To write the tags from scratch, use our free meta tag generator, and to check the rest of the head tags use the meta tag analyzer. This page also replaces our old Twitter card generator and validator.
Frequently asked questions
How do I test my Open Graph tags?
Enter the page URL and submit. The checker lists every og: and twitter: tag it finds in the raw HTML, flags any essential tag that is missing, fetches the share image to confirm it loads and reports its size, and shows a preview of the card. Fix what it flags, then ask Facebook or LinkedIn to re-scrape the page.
What size should an Open Graph image be?
Use 1200 by 630 pixels (a 1.91 to 1 ratio) for large link previews on Facebook, LinkedIn and X, and keep the file well under 5 MB; a compressed JPEG or PNG of a few hundred KB loads faster in chat apps. Keep important text and logos near the centre, because some platforms crop the edges or show a square version.
Why does the old preview still show after I changed my tags?
Platforms cache link previews, sometimes for days. Open Facebook's Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn's Post Inspector, paste the URL and ask them to fetch it again. X refreshes its cards on its own schedule. WhatsApp keeps previews per chat, so test in a new message, adding a harmless query string such as ?v=2 if needed.
Do I need both Open Graph and X card tags?
Mostly Open Graph. X reads og:title, og:description and og:image when its own twitter: tags are missing, so you usually need only twitter:card to choose the layout, normally summary_large_image. Add twitter:title or twitter:image only when you want X to show something different from the other platforms.
