Free Meta Tag Analyzer

A meta tag analyzer reads a live web page and checks the tags search engines and social platforms rely on. This free analyzer tests the title, meta description, robots, canonical, viewport, charset, Open Graph and X card tags and the H1 headings of any URL, marks each check pass, needs work or fix now, and gives a one-line fix.

Meta Tags Analyzer

On-page SEO

Free

Any public page. We read its HTML the way a browser receives it, before JavaScript runs.

Free, no signup. Your input is processed on our server and never stored.

About this tool

The analyzer visits the page the way a browser would, follows up to three redirects, and reads the HTML your server sends before any JavaScript runs. That is exactly what social media platforms and many AI crawlers see, and what Google sees before it renders the page, so a tag that only appears after scripts load is a risk worth fixing.

The checks weigh problems by what they cost you. A missing or duplicated title is a real problem, while a description a few characters over 155 is a minor one. A noindex robots tag or an X-Robots-Tag header fails, because it removes the page from search results. Two canonical tags pointing at different addresses fail too, because search engines may ignore both. Meta keywords are reported for information only, since Google ignores them.

SEO SMO HUB runs this check on the key pages of every new client site in the first week, and again after any redesign, theme change or plugin update, because those quietly rewrite head tags. It takes a few seconds and catches the kind of mistake that can cost a page its rankings without anyone noticing. Frequently asked questions

How do I check the meta tags of a website?

Enter the page URL and submit. The analyzer fetches the page as a browser would and lists every important head tag with its value and length: title, description, robots, canonical, viewport, charset, Open Graph, X card and the H1s. Each row is marked pass, needs work or fix now, with the fix spelled out.

Why does the analyzer say a tag is missing when I can see it in my browser?

Your browser shows the page after JavaScript has run, but the analyzer reads the HTML your server sends first. If a plugin or script adds the tag later, social platforms and many crawlers will not see it either. Add the tag to the server-side template or your SEO plugin settings so it is present in the original HTML.

Which problems should I fix first?

Fix anything marked "Fix now" first: a noindex tag, a missing title, a missing viewport or conflicting canonical tags can stop a page ranking or make it display badly on phones. Then work through "Needs work" items such as long titles, short descriptions and missing social tags. Items marked "For information" need no action.

What are the most important meta tags for SEO?

The title tag and meta description, because they become your search result; the robots tag, because a wrong value removes the page from Google; the canonical tag, which tells search engines the preferred URL; and the viewport tag for mobile display. Open Graph tags do not affect rankings but decide how links look when shared.

Is it safe to enter my website address?

Yes. The analyzer makes one ordinary visit to the page you enter, following redirects like a browser, and reads only public HTML. It never logs in, never submits forms and never stores the address or the page. It refuses private and local network addresses, and each visitor can run a limited number of checks per hour.
