About this tool
Schema markup is a block of structured data, written in the JSON-LD format, that tells search engines facts about a page in a form they can read exactly: your business name and address, an article author and date, the questions and answers on a page, a product price. It can make a page eligible for richer search results, and it helps search engines and AI tools connect your pages to the right business.
Choose the type that matches the page, fill in only the fields shown for that type in the form, and leave the rest empty. The tool rejects missing required fields, such as an article headline or a product price, and lists recommended fields you skipped. The result is one script tag. Paste it into the head or the body of the page, or into the custom code box of your SEO plugin, then test the live page with Google's Rich Results Test.
Markup must match what visitors can see on the page. Do not mark up content that is not shown, and do not add review or rating markup unless real reviews appear on that page, because Google can remove rich results for misleading data. Valid markup does not guarantee a rich result: it only makes the page eligible. FAQ rich results in particular are now limited to a small set of well-known sites.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I paste the JSON-LD code?
Paste the whole script tag into the head of the page, or anywhere in the body, since Google reads both. In WordPress use your SEO plugin's custom schema box or a header-and-footer plugin. Add it only to the page it describes, then test the live address with Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator.
Will schema markup improve my rankings?
Not directly. Google says structured data is not a ranking factor on its own. It helps search engines understand a page and can make it eligible for rich results such as product prices, which often lift clicks. It also gives AI search tools clean facts about your business, which helps them describe it correctly.
Which schema type should I use for my business?
Use LocalBusiness if customers visit a physical place or you serve a defined local area, and Organization for a brand without a public location. Put it on the homepage or the contact page, not on every page. Use the more specific business types, such as Dentist or Restaurant, by changing the type name in the result.
Can I add star ratings with this tool?
No, on purpose. Rating and review markup is allowed only for real reviews visible on the same page, and fake or self-written ratings can lead to a manual action. If your page shows genuine reviews, add the review markup separately and make sure the numbers match what visitors see.
How do I test that the markup is valid?
Publish the page, then paste its address into Google's Rich Results Test to see which features it qualifies for, and into the Schema Markup Validator at schema.org for general syntax. Fix any error and re-test. Warnings about recommended fields are optional but worth fixing when you have the information.
