Every PDF carries a small set of properties that most people never see. The title appears in the browser tab and in the window of a PDF reader, the author shows in file lists and the keywords help desktop search. A file called final-v3.pdf with the title "Untitled" looks careless; a clear title looks professional and is easier to find.
The tool writes the new values with Ghostscript using the standard document information entry of the file. Text in any language is stored as Unicode, so accents and non-Latin letters are kept. Fields you leave empty are not touched. Because the file is rewritten by Ghostscript, the Producer field will name Ghostscript afterwards, and the page content is rewritten rather than copied byte for byte.
Check the before and after table in the result to see what changed. Metadata is not a security feature: anyone can edit it again, and it is not proof of who made a file. If you need a trusted signature, use a signing service. Uploads can be up to 20 MB, and password protected files need the Unlock PDF tool first.

Where does the title of a PDF show up?
In the browser tab when the PDF is opened online, in the title bar of most readers and sometimes in search results. Without a title, viewers show the file name or "Untitled", which looks careless on a shared document.
Will leaving a field empty delete it?
No. Empty fields are left exactly as they are in the file. Only the fields you fill in are replaced.
Does the tool change how the PDF looks?
The pages should look the same. Ghostscript rewrites the file, so fonts and images are re-embedded and the file size can change a little. Check the result before you send it on, especially for forms and files with unusual features.
Can I remove all metadata?
This tool replaces the four main fields only. It cannot strip dates, the creator or the producer, and Ghostscript adds its own producer entry. For privacy, treat metadata as visible to anyone who opens the file.
Is my PDF stored?
No. Your file is written to a private temporary folder, processed for the length of the request and deleted straight after, whether the job worked or not. We do not keep copies, build a library of uploads or read the content of your documents.
