Open Graph Share Preview

An Open Graph preview shows how a link looks when someone shares it. This free tool fetches your page, reads its og: and twitter: tags, loads the og:image and draws the share card for Facebook, LinkedIn and X side by side, listing the tags it found. To validate the tags themselves, use the Open Graph checker.

About this tool

When a link is pasted into a social network, the platform does not show your page; it shows a card built from a few meta tags in the head. The Open Graph tags set the title, description and picture, and the Twitter or X tags can override them. A page with no tags gets a plain, often ugly card, and a card with a badly cropped image gets fewer clicks.

The preview tool loads your page from our server, reads the og: and twitter: tags, falls back to the page title and meta description where a tag is missing, and downloads the og:image to place it in each card. You see three cards, one in the style of Facebook, one of LinkedIn and one of X, plus the table of tags the cards were built from.

The cards are close approximations, not screenshots. Each network crops and styles cards its own way and changes the design from time to time. They also cache a page for days, so after fixing tags you may need to refresh the cache with the platform's debugging tool. This page shows the visual result; the Open Graph checker tests whether the tags are complete and valid.

Frequently asked questions

What size should an Open Graph image be?

Use an image of 1200 by 630 pixels, a 1.91 to 1 ratio, under 5 MB, as JPEG or PNG. Keep important text and faces away from the edges because some apps crop. Facebook, LinkedIn and X all handle this size well, so one image can serve every network.

Why is my old image still showing after I changed it?

Social networks cache the card for a page. Use the Facebook Sharing Debugger and the LinkedIn Post Inspector to fetch the page again. X refreshes its cache on its own after some time. Also check that the image URL is new or the file was really replaced.

Do I need Twitter card tags as well as Open Graph?

X falls back to Open Graph tags, so og:title, og:description and og:image are enough. Add twitter:card with summary_large_image to get the large picture layout, and add twitter tags only when you want X to show something different from the other networks.

What is the difference between this tool and the Open Graph checker?

This tool draws what a share may look like. The Open Graph checker audits the tags: missing properties, image size, URL consistency and common mistakes. Preview first to see the result, then validate to find out what to fix. Together they cover how your links appear when shared.
