Free Watermark PDF Tool
This free tool stamps a text watermark, such as DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL or your company name, across every page of a PDF. Choose the angle, colour and how see-through it is, then download the marked file. The watermark sits on top of the page content, so the original text and images stay as they are. Your upload is deleted right after.

About this tool
A watermark tells readers what status a document has before they read a word: a draft that is not final, a copy that is confidential, a sample that is not for sale. It also makes casual reuse less tempting, because a diagonal word across the page is awkward to crop out.
The tool creates a transparent page with your text, sized to match your first page, and stamps it onto every page with qpdf. Pick a diagonal or horizontal angle, a gray, red or blue colour and an opacity from light to strong. The font size is chosen automatically so the text fits the page, and the size option lets you make it smaller. Text uses the Helvetica Bold font and supports Latin letters and numbers.
A watermark is a visual marker, not a lock. Anyone with PDF editing software can remove it, so it does not protect content on its own; use the Protect PDF tool for passwords. If pages differ in size, the watermark is centred for the first page size, so odd sized pages may look slightly off centre. Uploads can be up to 20 MB, and password protected files need the Unlock PDF tool first.
Frequently asked questions
Can people remove the watermark?
With the right editing software, yes. A watermark is a visible marker, not a security feature. To restrict access, add a password with the Protect PDF tool as well.
Does the watermark cover my text?
It is drawn on top of the page, but it is see-through. A light opacity keeps text readable underneath. If the page content is dense, choose the lightest setting.
Can I use an image or logo as the watermark?
Not in this version. The tool supports text watermarks with Latin letters and numbers. For a logo, add it to the source document before you export the PDF.
Which angle should I choose?
A diagonal angle across the page is the usual choice for DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL because it is hard to ignore and hard to crop. Horizontal suits a short company name or a URL.
Is my PDF stored?
No. Your file is written to a private temporary folder, processed for the length of the request and deleted straight after, whether the job worked or not. We do not keep copies, build a library of uploads or read the content of your documents.
