Free Duplicate Line Remover

A duplicate line remover deletes repeated lines from a list and keeps one copy of each. Paste keywords, URLs, emails or any lines, choose whether upper and lower case count as different, and this free tool returns the clean list in the original order, with counts of what was removed and which lines were repeated most.

About this tool

Duplicate lists are a daily problem in SEO and marketing work: keyword exports merged from several tools, URL lists from crawls, email lists copied from different sheets, tags collected from competitor pages. This tool keeps the first appearance of each line and removes later copies, so the order of your list is preserved. Nothing is sorted unless you ask for it with the sort option.

The options decide what counts as a duplicate. Ignoring case treats "Seo Tools" and "seo tools" as the same line, which is usually right for keywords and wrong for case-sensitive data like file names. Trimming spaces removes invisible differences from leading and trailing spaces and tabs, a common reason lists look unique when they are not. You can also drop blank lines, which are otherwise counted as one repeated empty line.

The report under the result lists the lines that appeared more than once and how many copies there were. That is useful for spotting what you have too many of, such as a keyword that shows up in six exports. The cleaned list is in a box you can copy in one click. Your text is processed on the request and is not stored.

Frequently asked questions

Does it keep the first or the last copy?

It keeps the first copy of each line and removes the later ones, so your list stays in its original order. If you would rather have the result sorted, tick the sort option. The report lists which lines were repeated and how many copies each had.

How do I treat uppercase and lowercase as the same?

Tick the option to ignore case. Lines such as "Digital Marketing" and "digital marketing" are then seen as duplicates, and the first spelling is kept. Leave it unticked for data where case matters, such as file names or case-sensitive codes.

Why does my list still show duplicates?

Usually the lines differ by something invisible, such as a trailing space, a tab or a different capital letter. Tick the options to trim spaces and ignore case and run it again. Lines that differ by a visible character, like a trailing slash on a URL, are different lines and are kept.

Can it remove blank lines too?

Yes. Tick the option to remove empty lines. Without it, the first blank line is kept and later blank lines count as duplicates and are removed, so you never end up with a run of empty lines, but a single empty line may stay in your list.

Is there a limit on the number of lines?

The input can be about 500 KB, which is roughly tens of thousands of lines of keywords or URLs. The page handles that quickly because it works on the server in a single pass. For very large exports, split the file and clean each part, then merge and run it once more.
