Domain to IP Address Converter

This free domain to IP converter resolves up to 20 domain names at once and shows every IPv4 (A) and IPv6 (AAAA) address each one points to, plus the reverse DNS name of the first address and a note when domains share a server. It asks the public DNS directly, so the answer is what browsers see right now.

About this tool

A domain name is only a label; the address browsers actually connect to is the IP address in its DNS records. You need that address when you move a site and want to confirm the DNS change has gone live, when a firewall needs a whitelist entry, when you check whether two sites sit on the same server, or when you suspect a domain points at the wrong place after a migration.

The converter asks the DNS for each domain's A records (IPv4) and AAAA records (IPv6) using the resolver on our server, the same way a browser would, and looks up the reverse DNS name of the first IPv4 address. Domains that share an address are flagged, because that usually means shared hosting or a CDN. Nothing is fetched from the sites themselves.

DNS answers are cached around the internet for the time set in the record's TTL, so a change you made minutes ago can show the old address here and the new one elsewhere for a while. Sites behind Cloudflare or another CDN resolve to the CDN's addresses, not the origin server. Domains without a record, or not yet registered, show as unresolved.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a domain show several IP addresses?

Large sites publish more than one address so traffic spreads across several servers and keeps working if one fails. Browsers pick one, usually the first, and try the next on failure. CDNs such as Cloudflare almost always return two or more addresses.

Why do two different domains show the same IP address?

They are served by the same machine or the same network. On shared hosting hundreds of unrelated sites share one address, and behind a CDN thousands do. It is only meaningful when the domains belong to related businesses, which can matter for link building and for spotting site networks.

I changed my DNS but the old address still shows. Why?

DNS records carry a time-to-live (TTL), often one hour to a day, and resolvers keep the old answer until it expires. Our server may have cached the old record, or the registry has not published the new one yet. Lower the TTL a day before a move and check again later.

What is the difference between an A record and an AAAA record?

An A record holds an IPv4 address (four numbers such as 203.0.113.10); an AAAA record holds an IPv6 address (hexadecimal with colons). A domain can have both, and modern browsers prefer IPv6 when the connection supports it. A site with only an A record still works everywhere.
