Free Domain Authority Checker
A domain authority checker estimates how strong a website is in search based on its links. This free checker reports a link-based rank with referring domains and backlinks when live data is available, and always checks HTTPS, domain age, response time, structured data and an indexable homepage. It also replaces our old MozRank and Alexa rank checkers.

Domain Authority Checker
Links and Backlinks
About this tool
"Domain Authority" (DA) is a metric created by Moz, scored 1 to 100 from Moz's own link index. Ahrefs has Domain Rating (DR), Semrush has Authority Score, and this checker shows DataForSEO's rank on a 0 to 1000 scale. Each vendor crawls the web differently and weighs links its own way, so the same site gets different scores everywhere. None of them is used by Google, which does not publish a site-wide authority score.
If you came here looking for a MozRank checker or an Alexa rank checker: both metrics are gone. Moz retired MozRank in 2019 when it rebuilt its link index, and Amazon shut Alexa.com and its traffic rank in May 2022. Our old mozrank-checker and alexa-rank-checker pages now point here, because the question behind them, "how strong is this domain", is answered by referring domains and a link-based rank. Treat anything still showing a MozRank or Alexa rank as stale data.
Treat any authority score as a comparison tool. Check your domain and the domains ranking above you with the same tool, look at the gap in referring domains, and ignore small movements from one week to the next. A score rises when relevant, independent sites start linking to you, not from anything done to the score itself. The trust signals below the score are the parts you control directly: a valid HTTPS certificate, a fast server, structured data and a homepage search engines are allowed to index.
This checker runs one domain per check, with its own homepage fetch and WHOIS lookup, so there is no bulk mode. For a list of domains, run them one at a time; results are cached for 24 hours so repeats are instant. At SEO SMO HUB we use these numbers to pick realistic targets: a keyword where the pages ranking have authority close to yours is a better first goal than one dominated by far stronger sites.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as Moz Domain Authority?
No. Domain Authority is Moz's own metric and only Moz can calculate it. This checker shows DataForSEO's rank, a similar link-based score on a 0 to 1000 scale, plus the referring domains behind it. Use one tool consistently when you compare sites, because scores from different vendors are not interchangeable.
What happened to MozRank and the MozRank checker?
Moz retired MozRank in 2019 along with MozTrust when it launched its rebuilt link index, so no tool can report a current MozRank. Domain Authority and Page Authority replaced it. Our old MozRank checker page now redirects here, where the link-based rank and referring domain count answer the same question about a domain's link strength.
Can I still check Alexa rank?
No. Amazon retired Alexa.com and the Alexa traffic rank in May 2022, so any Alexa rank shown today is years out of date. To judge a site's reach now, look at its referring domains and link-based rank here, check its organic keywords in a rank tracker, or use traffic estimates from Similarweb for a rough comparison.
Does domain authority affect Google rankings?
Not directly. Google does not use Moz, Ahrefs or DataForSEO scores. These scores try to predict ranking strength from links, which Google does use in its own way. A higher score usually reflects more links from more independent sites, and that is what actually helps, together with content that answers the search better.
Can I check domain authority in bulk?
Not here: each check fetches the homepage, looks up WHOIS and queries the link index for one domain. Paste domains one at a time; each result is cached for 24 hours so re-running a list is quick. If you need a large batch scored and compared, that is part of the competitor research in our SEO service.
How can I increase my domain authority?
Earn links from relevant, independent sites: useful guides, original data, expert quotes for journalists, partner and supplier pages. Fix broken pages that already have links pointing to them. Avoid buying links or joining link networks; they can bring a Google penalty. Scores update slowly, so measure progress over months, not weeks.
