Free CSV Generator
This free CSV generator turns rows you paste from Excel or Google Sheets, lines separated by tabs, pipes or semicolons, or a JSON array of objects into a correctly quoted CSV file. Pick the delimiter, whether to quote every field, the line ending and an optional Excel marker, then copy the result or download it. It suits marketers preparing bulk uploads and developers converting API output.

About this tool
CSV looks simple, but the details trip up every import: a comma inside a value must be quoted, a quote inside a value must be doubled, line breaks inside a cell must stay inside their quotes, and Excel in many countries expects a semicolon rather than a comma. The generator reads what you paste, works out the separator, and writes every field by those rules, so the file opens correctly in Excel, Google Sheets, Shopify, Google Ads Editor, Search Console and database import tools.
Paste directly from a spreadsheet and the tab characters between cells are detected. Paste a JSON array and each object becomes a row with the keys as the header, including keys that only some objects have. Pipe and semicolon separated lists work too. Choose quoting "as needed" for the smallest file or "always" for systems that require it, and tick the UTF-8 marker if Excel shows accented or non-English characters as garbage.
The result is shown as a table so you can check the columns before you download, and as text to copy. Rows are limited to 5,000 per run and the input to 500 KB, which covers most bulk uploads. Nothing you paste is stored on our server.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Excel put all my data in one column?
Excel uses the list separator from your Windows region settings to split CSV files, and in much of Europe, India and South America that is a semicolon, not a comma. Either generate the file with a semicolon delimiter here, or import it through Data, From Text/CSV in Excel, where you can choose the delimiter. Google Sheets detects the delimiter automatically.
Why do accented characters look wrong when I open the CSV in Excel?
Excel assumes an old Windows encoding for a plain CSV file and misreads UTF-8 text such as café or Hindi names. Tick the "UTF-8 marker for Excel" option: it adds an invisible byte order mark at the start of the file, which tells Excel to read it as UTF-8. Other tools ignore the mark, so it is safe to leave on for files meant for Excel.
How are commas and quotes inside a value handled?
A field that contains the delimiter, a quote or a line break is wrapped in double quotes, and any quote inside it is doubled, which is the rule in RFC 4180 that every spreadsheet and import tool follows. With quoting set to "as needed" only those fields are quoted; with "always" every field is, which some older systems require.
Can I convert JSON to CSV with this tool?
Yes. Paste a JSON array of objects and each object becomes a row, with the union of all keys as the header row in the order they first appear. Nested objects and arrays are written as compact JSON text inside the cell so nothing is lost. A JSON array of arrays becomes rows without a header unless you tick the header option.
